How to build a makeshift air conditioner for only $20
Another one of these cheap DIY coolers. Definitely a good way to go in a pinch, but not good for anything long-term.

It got just a little warm yesterday, but not warm enough to motivate me to get the cooler running. One of these little contraptions would have been great. Just enough cooling to take a little bit off the heat!

It sure has gotten hot all of a sudden! Got my cooler running a few weeks ago, but now I realize I need new pads. It's a pain in the ass working on the roof at my age. I might actually break down and hire someone, but at this point I have no idea who to call. Does anyone have a listing of people capable of working on swamp coolers who are reliable and won't rip an old guy off?

$8 Homemade Air Conditioner - Works Flawlessly!
With a battery or solar powered fan, one of these would be great in the event of a power outage, providing that you have a supply of ice!

Zero Breeze - The World’s Coolest Portable Air Conditioner
Something like this might be more expensive, but it would also do a much better job.

CrustyOldFart: This week the temps are supposed to hit 110 or higher, but the humidity isn't too bad. Not a lot of wind though and so it won't be the nicest weather this week, but it won't be excessively hot by local standards. Along the coast it is supposed to be hotter than normal and I think that's the area they talk about in the news clip.
