Reducing World Suck

Shailene's Hair, Unfair Monopoly, and the Just World Fallacy
Rich people are more likely than other people to steal candy from a baby!!! Nothing surprising about that at all!!!
:smack:
When man does harness power can he only do so in the same tradition as those who have had it before him? And thus yield only the SAME results as those who had power before him?

This looks like the documentary. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

The following links were included in the video description:
:pac:
A bit about the Monopoly research: http://nymag.com/news/features/money-brain-2012-7/
:prof:
And a study about how power changes the brain to decrease empathy and generosity:

SurfSteve: The videos you provide summarize a couple high-profile psychological "studies" from the 1960s which are always included in Psych 101 textbooks. They really weren't terribly well-designed experiments and their "results" aren't actually regarded as valid, but their notoriety has earned them a place in introductory psych courses. Most professors take the time to debunk the studies and point out the flaws in the experimental design (uncontrolled variables, unsupported assumptions, misleading operational definitions, etc.), but that hasn't stopped the general public and popular media from embracing these "studies" as valid and relevant. There are actually several other similarly famous and over-valued studies which get mentioned fairly often by popular media.

I always take these studies with a grain of salt. I watched a video the other day of a guy talking about these and similar studies. Depending on how they selected and prepped the volunteers the results varied widely.

Politics Wrecks Your Brain | Fascinating Study
It's funny that the TYT hosts don't bring up the idea of SKEPTICISM. Fake facts are all over the place and some of them are pushed in the form of supposedly scientific studies. In other words the empirical evidence is often not as reliable and empirical as it is made out to be. Propaganda is everywhere and it comes at you in the form of someone that you think you can trust a lot of the time. Question everything! Especially "studies" like the one talked about in this TYT discussion clip. The attributions, claims, and conclusions reached by those who conducted the "experiment" might not be correct and might actually reflect a bias rather than a reasonable assessment of the data.
