Russia, US make history in two-man bobsled
Let's face it the only thing that really matters is who wins gold in men's hockey, but there are a few other events that are mildly interesting!

mrgreen: I beg to differ! The important events include Women's ice skating, Women's skiing, Women's biathalon, Women's bobsled, and Women's hockey, to name just a few. Although men's events are mildly intersting, it is the Women's events that really matter!

'Wolf of Sochi': Prank shakes up 'bears & balalaika' stereotype in US
I'll give Jimmy Kimmel a pass on this one since he's a comedian, but any idiot who even for a second believed that the wolf in the hallway was legitimate is truly brain dead!!!

This quote pretty much sums up the real lesson to be learned from this prank:
I think with your average xenophobic, elementary school 3rd grade education level 'murican, it could have been CG saber-tooth tiger, they still would have fallen for it.

The problem is that in many ways this prank backfired. Although it was supposed to employ the use of anti-Russian stereotypes to further denigrate Russian efforts to conduct a successful Olympics, it actually reinforced the worldwide stereotype of Americans as stupid, lazy, and uneducated buffoons.

Gold Rush: Russia tops final Sochi 2014 medal count
Although, as cactuspete pointed out, the media here in the USA worked overtime to denigrate Russia's efforts to conduct a successful Olympics in Sochi, most people appreciate that the Sochi 2014 Olympics was probably the most spectacular Winter Olympic Games ever.

As usual the countries furthest north did the best in the Winter Olympics. That's not surprising one bit. Although I did hear that Iceland didn't medal in anything, but they're a really small country! Looks like Russia, Norway, and Canada kicked our American asses, but that's the way it goes sometimes. It's important to be good sports and thank Russia for putting on such an awesome Winter Olympics!
