The body count is increasing everyday in Ukraine. If we'd just have allowed Russia to take care of the situation the whole thing would be over by now and the body count would have been maybe ten people total. Instead it's moving up into the hundreds and will soon be over one thousand. Sometimes it almost seems like the USA does everything it can to make sure people in other countries die and of course it's all in the name of spreading democracy (providing that democracy means increasing the economic influence of the USA and that it has nothing to do with the will of the people living in the area).

U.S. spy plane evades Russian jet
Looks like we're headed for another Cold War. This is something which is quite avoidable and it's not Russia which is at fault here. Our leaders here in the USA really need to take it down a notch and stop being so adversarial all the time.

Wouldn't it be more covert if the United States didn't paint the country of origin on their spy planes? At least they didn't paint the words "spy plane" on it. That's always a dead give away!

Most of our esteemed leaders grew up during the Cold War and hate those "dirty commies" and can't adjust to a world where the Russians are our friends and so they're feeling nostalgic for the good ole days and are doing their best to bring them back. I completely agree that the Russians aren't at fault here. It's our leaders who are bending over backwards to be antagonistic. It's extremely unfortunate.

Сочи (Sochi)
Грузия (Georgia)

I wonder how soon we'll be seeing the eastern part of Ukraine being annexed by Russia. I'm sure most of the people are fed up with the thugs from Kiev bombing the hell out of them. Come to think of it, bombing people doesn't seem to me to be the best way to make friends!

Over 400 Ukrainian soldiers flee to Russia, ask for refuge
It looks like a war of attrition at this point. It's too bad that the people directing the troops from Kiev don't just call off the military actions against the people of east Ukraine and allow the people living there to decide for themselves what they want to do. Our leaders in the USA should at the very least put pressure on Kiev to cease all military actions period and solve everything through diplomacy while respecting the will of the people.

Russia hits back with agricultural bans for sanctioning countries
The USA is most likely shooting itself in the foot with the sanctions it has imposed. At the very least they're shooting European allies in the foot. Russian sanctions seemed to be much more measured and targeted. In any case, public support for sanctions against Russia here in the USA is not terribly strong with some companies very much opposed to them.

Kiev has major gas trump card, but Russia could invade if it uses it - ex UK MP
Lots of exciting news today! It appears that Kiev is losing control of everything east of the Dnieper River. Troops are bailing at an amazing rate, they are being militarily devastated, and there are protests in Kiev. Not sure how much longer they can hold out, with or without help.

Things are definitely heating up on the eastern border of Ukraine! Looks like it might get exciting. I read that the leader of Kiev claimed that Russia had started an all out assault. He has no idea what an all out assault would look like if Russia decided to do something like that. Of course, an all out assault is what the USA did to Iraq and look how that turned out. Putin is too smart to make enemies that way. Cleaning up the mess after that kind of undisciplined assault doesn't work in modern times. The USA doesn't seem to have learned that lesson. The USA still operates on the shock and awe assumption, whereas Russia operates on the idea of sustainability.
