Race Relations

The unknowns of the Michael Brown case
This Michael Brown case seems to be following the usual pattern for these types of situations. Something bad happens to a person of color for which a white person is blamed. The black community goes ballistic and assumes that it was all the fault of the white person. After a few days the facts begin to emerge and even though it becomes obvious that the person of color was completely to blame for the incident the white person is still blamed for what happened. The white person is never apologized to and people of color never learn that their racist assumptions about the situation are the real problem.

Youth Riot In St Louis
This might be the most intelligent analysis of the Michael Brown situation that I've heard so far.

The more you try to solve other people's problems for them, the more they expect you to do for them. We have a whole lot of people who feel entitled to special treatment and who are unable to do anything for themselves and they get angry when they don't get what they want. Starting back in the sixties with all the affirmative action crap this problem started to develop and now people of color expect special privileges. When a kid robs a store and resists arrest and winds up getting killed, somehow it's the fault of the cop who had to deal with him. The racists in this case are not the cops, it's all the people who automatically assumed the cop did something wrong just because the criminal was black and the cop was white.

MO State Senator: Police Chief should resign
You'd think that when confronted with the truth that a person would admit that they are wrong. Instead this state senator (who, by the way, has an incredibly poor command of the English language) complains and calls it a "malace move." She actually calls for the police chief to resign when she should be congratulating the police for handling a difficult situation in a reasonable way. Sure a young man is dead, but it's all on him. This kind of thuggery should not be defended, but you see it over and over in the media.

Michael Brown's Friend Describes Shooting Dorian Johnson Eyewitness
It's hard to find this account of events to be credible. The story is somewhat incoherent and he seems to contradict himself at the end. I've heard a few other "eyewitness" accounts and they're all different. Why would all these people lie about what happened? Could they all be trying to present the cop in a negative manner? Fortunately all this is recorded and so it appears that it's going to be hard to reconcile the different versions of what happened. Most likely the only consistent story will be that offered by the officer.

Here's a comment left to this video that I think is fairly accurate:
The witnesses are also liars. They hate the police becuase they themselves are criminals. The problem with Fergosun isn't the police, it is the community. Full of looters, and thugs. Maybe they should start acting like civilized people, rather than crooks, and looking for the next store to rob using this as an excuse.

Ferguson Shooting Press Conference 8/16/2014
This is pretty funny. RamZPaul does a good job making fun of the situation while making a valid statement at the same time. It's ridiculous, but he makes several good points.

J. Cole - Be Free
This might be the worst protest song ever. It sounds like he included excerpts from Dorian Johnson's account of events. I wonder at what point J. Cole will realize that the account was a complete fabrication... probably never!!!
