Russia has more problems than low oil prices
This is CNN's take on the situation. It's hard to say just how much of it is true, but Russia must be feeling some hurt, less because of the sanctions and more because of the falling oil prices.

What is going on now is apparently so complex even the leading economists don't have a handle on the situation. Something in the shadows is manipulating the price of oil, gold, and the value of the Ruble to rubble, though the later is not going to hurt their country nearly as bad as everyone thinks and will almost certainly have the opposite effect in the long term.

Excellent post! Thirty-eight minutes seldom goes by so quickly, but the amount of truth per minute in this video may have been the highest ratio I've ever experienced in my life. Excellent post!

Russia, 4 ex-soviet nations finalize economic alliance
One imagines the development of two separate economic systems with one built around the USA and the other around BRICS. The two systems will be independent and trade will mostly occur within systems. There will be certain countries defecting from one and moving to the other, back and forth, but the trend will be to move to the one with the stronger gravity, if you will, and building momentum. In other words, eventually the USA will be isolated from the rest of the world and the sanctions against Russia have only hastened that process as we see here with four nations (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia) joining Russia in an economic alliance.

pcslim: There is speculation that Turkey will align more with Russia. Also some think that there is a slight chance of Germany distancing itself from the USA. Not sure what impact that would have on our ability to maintain military bases in that country. The danger is that our leaders will act militarily in response to economic threats. The next decade could be quite tense!

Auschwitz survivors speak out against shunning of Putin from memorial :smack:
Apparently someone in Germany needs a history lesson. Auschwitz was liberated by Russia. Not America! Russia!

Putin: Nemtsov killers will be found and punished :upset:
It sounds like either a case of revenge or provocation. Very odd that it was carried out in broad daylight and so close to the Kremlin. Also it's odd that this was done the day be fore a protest march was scheduled. It's almost as if someone was trying to rally support for the protest.

Where is Putin? 'Missing, ill, dead, riding a weasel' - media abuzz
I guess you know people really care when they miss you enough to obsess over you when they don't see you for a few days...

The news media here in the USA obsesses over Putin all the time. No matter what he does or doesn't do, they're all over it. Meanwhile, he just takes care of business and ignores the idiots here in the USA who are doing their best to provoke him into war. Russia has never attacked another country. That's what the war machine here in the USA does. We may be the most violent empire in the history of the planet, but most people here are convinced that we're only doing what has to be done.
