Is Tim Allen Allowed to Say the N-Word?
At the end of this video Cenk asks viewers to participate in a poll. Unfortunately you have to be a registered user of the Young Turks website to see the actual poll, but someone posted in the comments section on YouTube under this video that 87% of viewers see nothing wrong with using the N-word. I would vote along with these people since it seems ridiculous to suggest that any word should be banned from usage. Retrogressive, I believe, is the term used for that way of dealing with something that offends a small segment of society and if we banned all words that 13% of the population disapproved of we'd wind up banning half the English language!

NSA-To-English Dictionary: I Don't Think These Words Mean What You Think They Do
One way to get around the letter of the law is to change the meaning of the words...
:smack:
Surveillance: When we actually access full content of your calls and emails, but not when we access all the data about who you talk to, where you are and what you do.

Collect: When we run a search on data we "collected" er... "stored for safe keeping."

Relevant: Everything. It might become relevant in the future, thus it's relevant today.

Targeted: As long as we're collecting the info for an investigation that involves a "target" then any info is "targeted" even if that info has nothing to do with the "target."

Redefining English: Senator Feinstein Says The Press Needs To Stop Calling Patriot Act Surveillance Program A 'Surveillance Program'
The more I learn, then less faith I have in the people who lead this country! They seem to have a talent for getting themselves elected, but in all other areas of life they seem to be absolute failures!
:curse:
It's no secret that the intelligence community tries to give the "least untruthful" answers by basically redefining the English language. (Feinstein) argued that the Patriot Act's Section 215, which has been interpreted to allow for the collection of phone records on every phone call is NOT a surveillance program because it just "collects metadata." She suggests that it's unfair to call this surveillance program a surveillance program. That's because she's either lying or doesn't understand what metadata reveals.

Fast Talking Con Men
Obfuscating the truth is what some people do best. It doesn't take a lot of intelligence to use verbal trickery, but it does take a little intelligence to recognize the verbal tricks being used.

New Rule: Words Matter
It used to be you couldn't say words like fuck, shit, cunt, etc. on TV. In this video Maher explains how words such as hero, phobic, hate, victim, and violence are often misused.
