Snow White saw Pinocchio walking through the woods so she ran up behind him, knocked him flat on his back, and then sat on his face crying, "Lie to me! Lie to me!"

There are times when deception can be a good thing!

I'm of the opinion that lying should be a protected form of speech and that law enforcment agencies should have no right to infringe on that right!

The problem with protecting lying during the past few administrations has been that no one has bothered to protect the whistle blowers reporting the lies. All speech needs to be protected. Speech such as lying to intentionally harm other's rights has never been protected. Your right to free speech ends where another's rights begin. You don't have the right to yell "fire" in a crowded theater so why should you have the right to yell "weapons of mass destruction" about another innocent country? All these people spreading lies about the Trump administration to damage national security are just as guilty as the person yelling fire in a crowded theater and should be held responsible for their lies!

Gingrich: President Trump is in a 'real war' with media

You have the right to lie; but you no right to get away with it, and not have to deal with the consequences!

‘Americans held hostage for too long, Trump right to bar MSM from White House gaggle’

Liars Hall of Fame - Ten most notorious liars of all time
I need to check blackturtle's YouTube channel out more often. I just came across this one a few minutes ago. I had to watch the video twice: once for the lyrics and once for the words on the screen. I'm not sure if I agree with all the people he put in his top ten list, but some of them definitely belong there! My favorite lines from the song:
If everybody told the truth
We'd never get things done

shadylady: When it comes to liars the list is long and so I'm not sure that the top ten presented in that song all belong in the top ten, but I agree that they are liars to some degree. If I were to put together a top ten liars list, I'm not sure who would be on it. I'd probably include at least a couple from the song though.

This ≠ That
The assertion that the polygraph is a useful way to detect lies is invalid and based on bad science. Logical fallacies and poorly designed experiments are far too common and people need to become better educated regarding the scientific method and the value of correlation studies.

I agree. Polygraphs aren't that good. A conscientious person who is worried might not pass while a habitual liar who is not worried because they are not expecting to pass, just might. I remember overhearing a conversation on the bus on the way to school when I was young about a girl telling another girl how to pass by thinking of something true while lying in order to fool the machine. Hopefully the machines are much better now but the same principals probably apply. I would imagine if a person owns their own polygraph machine they could practice lying and still fool the machine and that a psychopath who lies so often that they don't know when they are telling the truth could also do the same. I think that micro expressions are a better indicator but that a person could also train themselves to use them too.

Microaggressions are junk science and so are polygraphs. I think that shadylady's post in the Online Porn thread in the Technology and Gadgets forum sums up the situation pretty well. There are real scientists in the world, but most people can't tell the difference between the real ones and the ones that advocate for some cause. Junk science isn't that hard to recognize for logical thinkers who understand the scientific method. Unfortunately that excludes pretty much all politicians and about 75 percent of all voters! LOL
