The Kern Valley (KV) Junior Rodeo debuted last year in Ridgecrest, and now Kernville has been added to its rodeo schedule. On April 14-15 at the Kernville rodeo grounds, kids from ages 1 to 18 participated in over 60 rodeo events that were modified to fit the age and size of the contestants.
The KV Junior Rodeo was founded and is run by Skylar and Melissa McCullar of Trona, and Melissa’s mother, Colleen Brock, of Inyokern. After many years being organizers for large rodeos in Ridgecrest, they saw the need for a separate and regular rodeo schedule for younger kids.
The PVL plant will convert high quality limestone rock, quarried from the company's established limestone quarry in the Panamint Valley, into 400 tons per day of high value Quick Lime and Hydrated Lime products used in cement, soil conditioning, water treatment and industrial processes. The PVL lime plant will be the only producer of lime in the state of California, where currently all lime used is imported from out of state. The PVL Lime plant will be located on a site northwest of the existing Searles Valley Minerals and ACE Cogeneration industrial facilities “on a highly disturbed brownfield site,” company officials said.
