tronagirl: If all sorts of malls close by 2022 as predicted in the news report, when what will be done with all the buildings? Maybe that will be an opportunity for small businesses to acquire affordable office space. Or maybe they'll just become distribution centers!

Because I don't live near a mall maybe once the malls are vacant they can be made into homeless shelters.

Major networks largely ignore Walmart's minimum wage boost
Interesting information about Walmart and the lack of media attention as a way to avoid giving Trump credit for economic growth.

Walmart cuts hundreds of corporate jobs
The number of regular workers can be steadily and predictably thinned due to attrition, but people with corporate positions are being laid off.

"Walmart Yodel Boy" Meme Is BLOWING UP the Internet
Best thing ever at WalMart. Usually it's something about them underpaying their employees or some other bad news.

panamint_patty: I saw the Walmart Yodel Boy on the Ellen Show and he did a really great job! Thanks to Ellen he gets to perform at the Grand Ole Oprey in Nashville and Walmart is holding a special event for him and they've given him money for college. What a talented young man!

Mason Ramsey - Famous [Lyric Video]
Since the Ellen Show this kid has performed at the Grand Ole Opry and at Coachella... and he released this little original song here that currently has received almost SIX MILLION views in just a few days. What I want to know is who wrote the song?

panamint_patty: I think it's obvious from the lyrics that he didn't write the song all by himself. Although he sings the song with extreme earnestness it just ain't the case that an eleven-year-old boy thinks up lyrics about making it another five years with his girlfriend. It turns out that the song was written by Tyler Hubbard, Corey Crowder, Sarah Buxton and Canaan Smith of Florida Georgia Line. The song fits Mason's vocal range and the way things are going the song might even win some kind of award. The kid has done a lot in just a few weeks and we'll see if he's a shooting star or if he establishes himself as a major star or maybe something in between.

The Dollar Store Backlash Has Begun
There's Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, and Dollar General. They all have more or less the same business plan.
Like Walmart before them, these retailers present themselves as creators of jobs and sources of low-cost goods and food in “left-behind”areas—both urban and rural.

And there's a lot of them:
In fact, the number of dollar-store outlets nationwide exceeds that of Walmart and McDonalds put together—and they’re still growing at a breakneck pace.

The problem is that the food they make available is not exactly the most healthy food in the world.
“While dollar stores sometimes fill a need in cash-strapped communities, growing evidence suggests these stores are not merely a byproduct of economic distress,” the authors of the brief write. “They’re a cause of it.”

Walmart Eliminating Greeter Positions At 1,000 Stores
It's not really Walmart's job to provide useless people with jobs. Nothing against greeters, but they are totally unnecessary.
