Lawsuit: SD Unified superintendent ordered key findings deleted in investigation of principal
This sounds like a case where the investigator got a little too emotionally involved in the situation he was investigating. Sometimes people like that lose track of the bigger picture and myopically fixate on the details. They forget that the situation is complex with lots of double-binds and catch-22s that are unavoidable. Ultimately this is one of those cases which involve a problem between kids (kindergartners to be precise) that in the old days would have been dismissed as just kids misbehaving in a fairly ordinary manner, but which has now become one of the long list of picky little trivial offenses which get treated as if they are world-shattering crimes. People need to ground themselves in reality, not in hysterical fantasies built on make-believe problems.

panamint_patty (re: Key & Peele - TeachingCenter) - That was pretty funny, but I wish they had not referred to test scores as evidence that a teacher is doing a good job. When teachers are judged based on students' test scores the wrong message is sent. Students should be judged on their test scores and should receive incentives for doing well and be held accountable for low scores. That way students learn responsibility. Currently students believe they can punish a teacher by doing poorly on a test and the system as it exists at this time supports that dysfunctional belief.

What 60 Schools Can Tell Us About Teaching 21st Century Skills
A hallmark of the Industrial Age model of education is that it's measurable. Educational models which reflect the Information Age are creative and dynamic. Standardized testing is a relic of the Industrial Age and in order to move on to the Information Age we need to do away with it. Obviously a lot of companies make a lot of money off of standardized testing and they have a stranglehold on politicians who control education and so it will be very difficult to advance from the Industrial Age to the Information Age in our educational system.

Back to school 2015: the best laptops :pac:
This is probably directed more at parents with college kids, but it still provides interesting information about what kind of portable computing devices are available out there and how much they cost.

These deals are too cool for Back to School :thumb:
Some great deals on school supplies and according to the school website (http://www.trona.k12.ca.us/) the first day of school is less than two weeks away!

Kentucky Sherriff Used Handcuffs on 'Misbehaving' 3rd-Grader
This is a pretty good example of an overblown story. The kid misbehaved at school and he received a little discipline. This is nothing compared to the swats kids used to get a few decades ago. What a bunch of whiny little wimps we're raising now. If the kid has ADHD, then he probably needs something like this to hold his attention.
