Frontier: NO SPEED INTERNET & Verizon: DO THEY EVEN TRY?

Millions Annoyed As Frontier Bungles Acquisition of Verizon Customers Across Three States :curse:
If you're one of the millions of people that Verizon sold to Frontier, you're probably really pissed off!
Shortly after Frontier began attempting to integrate 3.7 million customers in the three states starting April 1, things began to unravel. Numerous customers complained they couldn't use phone, broadband or cable TV services -- at all -- for weeks. Company apps no longer worked. Some DNS servers stopped responding. Voicemail services no longer functioned. Customers left without service for weeks say they called customer service lines only to be yelled at or ignored by Frontier support representatives.

Frontier to credit customers who complained of outages
If you are having problems, then you're not alone! :wtf:
Defending itself at a California legislative hearing Wednesday, Frontier Communications blamed six weeks of widespread service outages on corrupt data it received from Verizon Communications and said it will give bill credits to thousands of impacted customers.

Frontier is trying to redirect the blame for the problem onto Verizon, but bottom line is that it's their problem and they need to fix things quickly. Other companies that have taken over Verizon territories have gone bankrupt, BTW. This is a great opportunity for alternative ISPs and so it may be mostly for the good if non-dysfunctional companies decide to clean up the mess by offering customers an affordable and reliable option.

Verizon ran their internet service into the ground before selling it to Frontier. At least we have internet again. For a long time we were worse off than most 3rd world countries. I agree. Internet service in Trona is pretty bad. There are no good choices.

Here's How Terrible Internet in the U.S. Really Is
Although the Internet was invented in the USA we have over-priced and slow service now. Frontier is just even worse than the rest!

The problem is that the equipment Frontier has in Searles Valley is not adequate to deal with peak demand. During times when the network is congested many people wind up with extremely slow or non-functional service. Frontier needs to own up to this and do something about it. Any time Microsoft releases a large patch (usually on Tuesdays, btw) the network may bog down. People the furthest from the office down by the Catholic church will be impacted the most. If you call for technical assistance the poorly trained Frontier "technicians" (if you can call people who robotically follow a script technicians) will not even mention the fact that it's Frontier's fault that all this happens and they'll waste your time running diagnostics as if it's your equipment that's the source of the problem. It would only take about $2000 to upgrade the equipment, but Searles Valley is such a low priority that they're not willing to lift a finger and yet they don't mind frustrating customers with pointless customer service and lame excuses.

The service from Frontier is much worse than when I had Verizon. Apparently what happened was that instead of Verizon upgrading their equipment years ago they stopped taking on new customers. Now that Frontier has taken over they've added all those new customers but kept the same equipment. Why do we have worse internet than most third world countries?

The speeds vary. When I do a speed test sometimes it's lower than 1mbs. It's not just a matter of the speeds being slow. There is also a problem with severe lag times. We're not talking milliseconds we're talking nearly a minuet sometimes.

Have you ever research getting/using a dish to get on the net? I haven't in years. I heard it was pretty expensive and just stayed with the phone lines back then. It would seem that things are diff now? At my place Charter gives me about 20 download and 3 up for about $32.
