tronagirl: I agree. While political discussions are not a bad thing as long as the discussion remains civil, actually attacking an effigy of a politician is not appropriate. Political caricatures are one thing, but busting open a pinata is in a completely different category.

wildrose: It's unprofessional to discuss politics in a one-sided manner. Busting open an effigy of a politician implies violence and is an activity which should not be tolerated at a public educational institution. While this pinata incident isn't all that serious, there's no doubt that a similar incident involving an effigy representing Obama would have caused a huge and massive public outrage.

twister: Agreed. California is not likely to go this route. If the state were to allow each district to decide for itself, we might see a few schools with armed teachers, but the state is not likely to allow such autonomy.
