Great thinkers can do a lot with just chalk and a chalkboard. Give idiots the best technology money can buy and it's just GIGO!

 Exactly!
GIGO = GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT.

Write your own history: How US politics affect schools' curriculum
Curriculum used in public schools has always been a political hot potato, but it's getting worse!

Texas and California are the most influential states when it comes to the content of social studies and history texts. The good news is that Texas leans conservative and the bad news is that California leans libtard!

sandman: The problem is that what facts are seen as relevant and important really does depend on your political ideology. It would be very difficult to create a textbook for history or that deals with social issues that satisfies both sides of the political divide equally. One solution might be to compile a list of potential authors and to rank them on a continuum from conservative to liberal and keep eliminating people from each end of the continuum until there are only five in the middle remaining and have those five work as a team to create a textbook that will make everyone equally angry!

cactuspete: That might work, but chances are that the original list will already lean pretty far in the liberal direction since academic institutions tend to be left leaning to begin with. Unless care is taken to ensure that potential authors from conservative universities comprise at least half of the original list, your plan will fail miserable. Other than that, I really like your plan!
