TJUSD Board Meeting - September 10, 2020

Four board members and superintendent present on video. One board member not wearing mask. HIGHLIGHTS:

1) Moment of silence for Sheila Haughton - retired teacher who passed away this last week.
2) Superintendent's Report - General comments.
3) Maintenance Report - Updates on construction projects. Plans for new high school being developed. The plan at this time is to build it to the west of the round buildings. Showed electrostatic sprayer to board members (not shown in video). Explained how it helps disinfect surfaces around campus. Stated that masks and other supplies received and air filters have been purchased.
4) Principal's Report - Waiver for in person hybrid learning turned in today. Also talked about online pep rally which took place last week. Outdoor dance planned for September 25th. Adoption of history text series postponed due to lack of availability.
5) Business Clerk - Discussion about job description. Board members think that it is too vague.
6) 2020-2021 Coaches, Class Advisors, etc. - Several positions approved.
7) TEXTBOOKS and INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS and TEACHER CREDENTIALS - All certified to be in compliance.
8) Dual Enrollment Sports Agreement - approved.
9) Financial Stuff - Bid policy, unaudited actuals discussed.
10) Discussion of changes in school funding rules due to the COVID situation. The LCAP system was replaced (probably temporarily) and another system with another acronym was substituted for it.
