PVHS rumors have administrators on guard
A theory that I heard regarding the shooting in Newton was that the killer believed the world was really going to end on Saturday and that he wanted to live out a fantasy before it was too late. According to this story the killer was really into those video games where you go around shooting people and the more people you kill the better your score! I suppose that theory is not much more than a rumor, but you never know. They say that truth is stranger than fiction.
“They are young people, they have vivid imaginations, and they like to talk, so we get a lot of rumors. The rumor that is going around now is that there is going to be somebody coming to school on Friday with a gun. We are checking every rumor out and we can’t put any basis to it. We have gotten some names and we’ve checked those kids out. It is almost like a witch-hunt. People are starting to point fingers at other people and now that leads us to get to the bottom of why they have named that person,” he said.

Reduced Prison Time for Book Reports?
Redemption through reading? I'm thinking that some students might be motivated to read more if they could stockpile the points in advance to be used to reduce any future time they might be sentenced to spend in the state pen!

School officials hopeful of fiscal cliff deal
The head administrator of the school here in Searles Valley was quoted in this article. Of course, the fiscal cliff stuff was a bunch of political drama played out by the idiots in Washington D. C., but potentially it could have impacted local services.
:smack:
“As the projected outcome from this fiscal cliff deal and future agreements made by lawmakers become more clear, we will address the needs of our students to the best of our abilities, just as we have done through the seemingly endless series of cuts we have received over the past few years,” Olney said. “We will begin next school year’s budget planning process very soon, assessing our students’ needs while examining potential funding changes.”
