Herbs, Roots & Resins - Rue
Interesting plant. Probably won't grow in the desert, but not much does!

Fields of failure? Reports say US measures failed to reduce Afghan opium production
Banning the cultivation of a plant is wrong. This is a beautiful plant and it should be allowed to flourish. People who ruin their lives by abusing recreational drugs are fools, but it's my opinion that fools should be allowed to perish.

I agree. Let fools perish and spend my tax dollars protecting the people that deserve protecting instead of using them to contribute to someone's addiction.

Pretty sure certain varieties of rue would do well in the dessert but I don't think Rue by it's self is a psychoactive plant. Much less so than coffee or tobacco anyway and that it's mainly used to multiply the effects of other psychoactive plants like certain vines, cacti and mushrooms. I suppose that it probably also increases the effects of certain medications and maybe even some vegetables. I recall reading at one time many of our vegetables were deemed psychoactive and even punishable by death but that their effects have either been bred out or we've gotten used to them.

I was surprised the first time I tried some finely powdered bone meal not too long ago about how good it made me feel. Damn near euphoric! I've never read anything to that effect. Maybe I was just deficient in it. On the other hand I been drinking coffee on a daily basis and I hardly get any effects at all from it. Strange how that works!
Make Trona great again!

Joe Rogan Reacts to Michael Pollan's DMT Story
Two guys talk about their experiences with psychoactive drugs... not necessarily plant-based psychedelics, but this is an interesting discussion nevertheless.

Lions tail is often available at nurseries. It does pretty well even out here in the desert.

What does the law say about growing poppies? The big old fashioned Afghan type are very attractive and how would anyone know which cultivars are legal and which aren't? They say that prickly poppy which grows wild in the desert has just as much opium as Afghan varieties and so what would be the point of busting anyone for growing poppies?

Opium Poppy (Episode 3 - A Trip Through the Garden - A Short Guide to Plant-based Substances)
My grandma used to grow old-fashion poppies. I'm not sure if she made tea from any part of the plant or not!
