Twitter Censors Its First Account
This is a very bad thing from a free speech perspective. If the only speech you are willing to allow is speech you agree with, then you do not believe in free speech. The good news is that this ban only affects Germany.

Right to Insult: Brits bash religious hard talk ban
This law in effect in England doesn't just apply to what's said on the internet. Any kind of insulting language can get a person thrown in jail. Even calling a horse gay!!!

Will your Internet provider be spying on you?
All this fuss over copyright issues is ruining the internet. I really don't give a rat's ass about individuals downloading pirated copies of movies or songs. That's not that much different than recording off the television or radio or off a disk belonging to a friend. Greedy companies need to stop interfering with our communications and elected public officials need to stand up to corporations and start protecting the rights of individuals citizens!!!
:curse:
But now that they're free from individual blame, there's also the strong possibility that the ISPs will be doing the data monitoring directly. That's a much bigger deal. So instead of reaching out to the Internet to track down illegally flowing bits of their movies, the studios will sit back while ISP's "sniff" the packets of data coming to and from their customers' computers. While they're simply claiming to be protecting copyright holders, ISPs have a lot to gain from all this as well.

Porn Studio Awarded $1.5 Million From Man Who Shared 10 Movies
Sharing videos should not be a crime. Selling them should be a crime, but simply sharing them should most definitely NOT be a crime! Criminalizing sharing defies logic and shows that the rich and powerful can totally ignore the obvious and undeniable truth that there's a difference between stealing and sharing!

Illegal Downloaders Can Expect A Letter From Their ISP Very Soon :curse:
This is completely unacceptable! An ISP should be completely neutral. They are providing a service and have no business policing the activities of anyone. To keep track of what I do online is no different than monitoring what I say during phone conversations. No corporation should be allowed to do anything like this and no law enforcement agency should be allowed to do this without a warrant. And in any case downloading a file should never be a crime. Only posting a file should potentially be a crime!

South Park Creators Sued Over Lollipop King
Another form of censorship results from overly broad interpretation of copyright laws. It effectively stiffles free speech since it reduces the ability of citizens to express their views. I'm in favor of extremely limited copyright provisions. Also those who file stupid lawsuits like this one should be required to pay substantial fines for attempting to infringe on the free speech of others!

Copyright Alert System Targets Illegal Downloaders Starting This Week
This is about the most Draconian tactic I've ever seen. This should be totally illegal in the USA and if our government wasn't bought off by private corporations nothing like this would be possible. So much for democracy and freedom!

Hmm. I wonder what they will do with me? I'm already at level 5. Whatever that means. I always thought it was something like being on double secret probation from the movie Animal House.

Free 4G Home Internet Challenges DSL & Cable!
The best thing about this company is that they are not participating in the copyright alert system. The worst thing about this company is that it sounds like the service is only available in a few localities.
