sandman: Absolutely! So many diseases that were untreatable in the past have become treatable thanks to medical advances, but there are still so many diseases that still can't be treated. The lucky ones are those that don't get sick at all and the semi-lucky ones just get something that can be cured or treated without extreme hardship.

Medical advancements have both good and bad ramifications. Mother Earth use to be able to clean up the gene pool and keep over population in check with big flushes occasionally. Now not so much, we altered nature again.

True, but I don't think anyone seriously wants to go back to the "good ole days" when people routinely died from things which are easily treatable now. As for our gene pool, scientists will soon be able to edit out the bad stuff and so that problem will most probably be solved in the not too terribly distant future. However, the future is always full of surprises -- some good, some bad -- and so who knows how things will turn out!

Can you point to your interstitium?
Researchers believe they have discovered an elaborate path of fluid-filled tissues that make up the interstitium, a previously unknown organ — a finding that could have major impacts on how serious diseases are treated.

The $35 billion race to cure a silent killer that affects 30 million Americans
Various drugs are being developed and tested in hopes of curing this disease. A big problem is that the condition is asymptomatic through most of its development and not noticeable until later stages.
For many the culprit is a serious form of fatty liver disease called nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, also known as NASH. An outgrowth of the obesity epidemic in the Western world and around the globe, it causes scarring and inflammation that can lead to liver cirrhosis, cardiac and lung complications, liver cancer and death. Yet few people know about it.

I was worried I had colon cancer but it was just Dr. Gregor yelling "Don't eat meat!" from the bottom of the toilet bowl as I was flushing it. I tried to stop but it was too late. Poor guy! :toilet:
