The only brand of car mentioned in this report is Jeep. Whether this is a Jeep-only thing or not isn't spelled out in this report.

Unusual driveway theft could point to new high-tech tactics
At the end they suggest using a steering wheel lock or car alarm, but my thought is that actually parking in the garage might work even better.

Your phone data can be extracted through your car if you allow your phone to hook up to your car using Bluetooth and at this time they can do this without a search warrant.
