Richard Overton: 112 years old, cigars, whisky, ice cream!

Postby surfsteve » Wed Jul 04, 2018 8:03 am

I'm not really sure where to post this because it defies so many boundaries. Sometimes someone defies all the rules and yet comes out on top of it all. Richard Overton seems to have done just that. At the time some of these videos were made he was the oldest living World War II veteran; but now he is the oldest living man in America!

He is 112 years old; enjoys smoking cigars, drinking whisky and eating ice cream!

A few days ago someone drained his bank account of all his money!

Yesterday it was restored by the bank!

Is he blessed; or is he extremely lucky?

As far as I know, nobody is disputing the age of Richard Overton, but there is a lot of controversy about Bernando LaPallo and a lot of people say he was lying about his age and was a good 10 years younger than he claimed. I remember reading about him some time back and was pretty convinced that he was lying but he still looks remarkably young for his likely, true age.

Extremely lucky no matter how you slice it. Whether he was "blessed" with exceptional genetics or just happened to be able to hit the right balance of environmental factors to trick the Grim Reaper for a few extra decades, it comes down mostly to luck, especially considering his bad habits.
