Pot Legal in 2 States, Drug Czars Panic
Cenk complains a lot about Obama going after states which legalize marijuana use in this video. My take is that Obama is forcing states to take the initiative to strike down federal prohibitions against marijuana use. Rather than Obama simply ignoring federal laws against marijuana use, which he could do by making enforcement of those laws a low priority, he is forcing Congress to act by making a law which leaves marijuana laws to the discretion of states, thus releaving the federal government of responsibility for those laws. That way permanent change occurs, rather than setting up a situation where states could get comfortable with allowing marijuana use only to have all that swept away when a conservative president is elected. Obama could suggest such legislation, but that's not something he wants to spend political capital on.

Medical marijuana takes away from the pharmaceutical companies which would be bad news for Obama's healthcare plan. Anti-depressants would take a hit, as well as many other meds that weed would take the place of.

Are We Winning The War on Drugs?
According to a recent survey, most people believe that alcohol is more dangerous than marijuana. How many people have died from smoking too much pot? Probably none. How many people die every year as a direct result of drinking alcohol? Not sure of the exact number, but it's probably thousands.

Hillary Clinton Says Drug Legalization Wouldn't Stop Violence :mad2:
The idiots in charge always defend the status quo when it comes to drug policy. My guess is that too much money is being made by their friends who run huge corporations as the result of the incarceration of people who have done nothing wrong other than break one of their completely unnecessary laws. It's been said before and I'll repeat it here. There is a civil war going on in the USA. It's the corporations against people who just want to be left alone, but the corporations with the cooperation of "our" government keep making unnecessary laws in order to excuse greater rates of incarceration. We the people are morons for allowing this to happen, but we fall for divide and conquer every time!

France, Barnett recounts his time spent as a prosecutor in Chicago, Illinois, and speaks about the harms to both drug users and civil society at large as the result of drug prohibition in America

Pot Legalization Vote State by State
Hopefully at least some of these measures, initiatives, and/or propositions pass! Laws against marijuana use are an unnecessary intrusion into the private lives of individuals!
