Pterostilbene - What You Need to Know in About 1 Minute
"Ptero-still-bene" is like a super version of resveratrol. Because its chemical structure is slightly different than resveratrol, it is believed that Pterostilbene may be more bioavailable.

Top 7 Reasons Why You Should Take Pterostilbene
There are a lot of claims made about pterostilbene. There are natural sources (most notably blueberries), but to get enough of the substance to make much of a difference (without the need to eat ridiculous amounts of the source food) it must be taken in supplement form.
Health Benefits of Pterostilbene:
1) Improves brain function
2) Reduces blood sugar
3) Has anti-cancer effects
4) Benefits the muscular and heart system
5) Helps you lose weight
6) Has anti-inflammatory effects
7) May help you live longer

NAD reversal guarente
The way I understand it is Nicotinamide Riboside is a precursor to NAD+ and NAD+ is necessary for sirtuins to do their job. What is the job of sirtuins, you may ask?
From WikiPedia:
Sirtuins have been implicated in influencing a wide range of cellular processes like aging, transcription, apoptosis, inflammation and stress resistance, as well as energy efficiency and alertness during low-calorie situations. Sirtuins can also control circadian clocks and mitochondrial biogenesis.

Pterostilbene (pronounced tero-STILL-bean), which is found in blueberries and grapes, is similar to resveratrol, but considered to be much more potent. The problem is that the amount of this substance found in natural sources is not sufficient to have much impact. So, it's necessary to deliver it in concentrated form. Taking pterostilbene with Nicotinamide Riboside is popular at this time and some have referred to it as a fad. Google a Scientific American article called "Beyond Resveratrol: The Anti-Aging NAD Fad" for more info.

A few years ago I started taking loads and loads of supplements and I noticed a huge weight gain, despite exercising and started feeling terrible. My hair also started turning gray but has since reverted back after switching to a mostly raw diet and giving up supplements. I think the if a little is good then a lot more than you can get than you would find naturally in food will be better for you theory is totally wrong. I don't recall reading about any centurions ever talking about taking supplements. Just good wholesome food, family and friends, and a calm and optimistic lifestyle.

Healthy Cellular Aging and NAD+ a Discussion with Dr. Brenner
NR (nicotinamide riboside) is a fancy form of vitamin B3 and is supposed to do things that regular B3 can't do.

Does Basis by Elysium Work?
Elsewhere I read that Nicotinamide mononucleotide is another form of B3 that's even more likely to have anti-aging effects than Nicotinamide riboside and that human trials are being conducted to see how well it works.

This existing drug could keep heart valves bendy
Bendy heart valves are a good thing! :thumb2:
This might be more of a drug than a supplement, but the difference between a drug and a supplement is more of a continuum than an either/or proposition anyways and so here's the info!
Today in Circulation, researchers published findings that the drug—a monoclonal antibody known as SYN0012—shows promise in keeping heart valve leaflets supple. About a quarter of Americans suffer hardening of the valves by age 65 and about half by 85, and the only treatment is surgical replacement.

Beef heart is very good for the heart. It contains 10 times the co-Q-10 factor of regular beef. It tastes a lot like steak but the texture is a little different. You can buy it at Stator Brothers and if they don't have it in the case you can ask for it behind the counter. They will even grind it for you for free. You can mix it 50/50 with regular hamburger to help you get used to the taste and the best part is it's cheaper than hamburger because it's not that popular. Who knew that supplementing your regular beef with beef heart could be so good for you?
