Cultural Appropriation?

Administrators tell students what not to wear for Halloween
Over-sensitivity is the problem here. SJWs need to STFU and stop stifling creativity and stop being such petulant killjoys!

Halloween: Schools crack down on insensitive costumes
There's a point where political correctness becomes insanity and this is way beyond that point!

Just a bunch of SJW insanity. Ideas are for the taking. There is no culture that has not borrowed ideas from another culture. And there are very few ideas that are unique to any given culture. In fact, the cultures that are supposedly appropriated from, or at least the ones the whiners complain on behalf of, are usually the cultures with the least to offer. So just stop it with this mindless babble about cultural appropriation! It was, it is, and it will always be a STUPID CONVERSATION!

Are Some Cultures Better than Others?
Multiculturalism and the concept of Cultural Appropriation seem to go hand in hand. Both are flawed concepts or ways of looking at the world.

Cultural appropriation is one of those self-serving terms which are designed to make white people feel guilty over things that they should not feel guilty about. It allows blamers, whiners, and complainers to attempt to manipulate others. In other words, it's just a tactic used by SJW types to get their way and the best way to deal with that kind of thing is to call them on their cheap attempt at social domination and tell them to STFU.

Cultural appropriation is an attempt to take credit for the accomplishments of someone else. For instance, many people say that Elvis Presley was guilty of cultural appropriation. This is simply a stupid claim to make, but the idea is that his sound was in certain superficial ways similar to some black entertainers of his time. The problem is that this completely misses the point and the whole claim of cultural appropriation is in a sense racist. It is more accurate to say that because of Presley's accomplishments that the way was paved for many black artists to gain more attention and recognition. Although they weren't as talented as Presley, they produced songs which were similar to his and so people who liked Presley's stuff also started listening to songs by black performers. It is simply a self-serving fantasy to suggest that these black performers were in any way exploited. Quite the opposite is true. They were one of the biggest beneficiaries of Presley's success.

wildrose: There's an even bigger irony here. The black entertainers of Presley's time used instruments which were developed by people of European descent and the song structures were also typical of folk songs from European culture. Furthermore, any knowledgeable musicologist will tell you that both southern whites and southern blacks developed the style which is sometimes referred to as the southern sound. Many claim that it was a black sound, but that's historically inaccurate. The entire concept of cultural appropriation is dubious at best and as has already been pointed out it is a tool used to manipulate others and not a concept that should be taken seriously.

Apparently Ray Charles was guilty of either cultural appropriation or plagiarism or both.
